1.summary
At the beginning of the new semester, I have the chance to learn more about Wikipedia and better understand how it works and shares knowledge. In the first class, the professor explained its basic functions and its impact as one of the world's largest sources of information. Wikipedia includes articles, discussion pages, and Wikiversity, and it is considered an important public service project.I realized that even though Wikipedia is free to access, copyright issues still matter, and using resources properly is very important. This semester, I hope to improve my ability to use Wikipedia for academic research and contribute good content, making it a valuable learning tool for me.
2.Interesting Point
Wikipedia's collaborative nature allows volunteers worldwide to contribute and maintain content, showing the power of collective knowledge. This decentralized system is both efficient and democratic, reflecting humanity's pursuit of knowledge. However, open editing also brings risks like false information, bias, and intentional changes. To ensure accuracy and neutrality, Wikipedia has strict editing rules and citation policies, along with monitoring and correction systems to prevent misuse. It is not just a large knowledge base but also a global community that works together and keeps improving.
