Week1-The edits I have made to Wikipedia———CUI ZAN

This week, I edited and updated my Wikipedia user page. As a beginner, this task was indeed challenging, particularly regarding page layout, using wiki code, and ensuring the content met platform standards. During my initial attempts, I encountered issues such as formatting errors, broken links, and content that wouldn't display correctly. Through this process, however, I gradually became familiar with Wikipedia's page design standards and editing rules, learning how to add personal introductions, interests, and other relevant information. Although it was somewhat difficult, the entire process proved genuinely interesting.

2. New, Interesting, or Unusual Discoveries

While editing my Wikipedia user page, I realized the platform was much more engaging than I had expected. As I looked through other users' pages, I noticed they weren’t just simple introductions. Many included details about their interests, editing history, and contributions to the site. Some even shared their experiences, reflections, and funny moments from editing. Seeing this made me understand that Wikipedia isn’t just a place for knowledge—it's also a lively community where people interact and share their passion for editing. This sense of community makes the platform more inviting and encourages users to stay active and contribute more.

3. Questions and Concerns for Further Discussion

I'm particularly curious about how we could effectively improve participation and editing enthusiasm among new users. Based on my own initial editing experience, which involved difficulties and confusion, I wonder whether it might be beneficial to develop more beginner-friendly tutorials or guidance tools, especially to address common source code errors. Could additional resources or interactive learning approaches be designed specifically to help novices become comfortable and confident editors more quickly?

    I think creating more beginner-friendly tutorials would really help increase participation. When I first started editing, I was often confused by source code issues. If there were tools that guide new users through common mistakes or interactive resources for learning, it would probably make the whole process a lot less intimidating and more encouraging for beginners.

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
