Summary

  All three articles are related to Wikipedia. This paper introduces the foundation of Wikipedia, the challenges encountered in the development process, the social cooperation model of Wikipedia, the influence of Wikipedia, and the disputes and shortcomings encountered by Wikipedia at present.

  Wikipedia was born out of Jimmy Wales' desire for open knowledge. He founded Nupedia, but because the model of relying on experts to write was not sustainable, he eventually realized the creation of Wikipedia in 2001 through the discovery of wiki technology. Anyone can participate in editing and contributing, breaking with the traditional encyclopedia's reliance on experts.

  The openness of Wikipedia brings the risk of no supervision, such as junk information, misleading information, etc., which needs the management mechanism to be adjusted and improved. Although Wikipedia has addressed many of its problems through transparency mechanisms and management strategies, the accuracy of content still relies on volunteers for gatekeeping, and errors and controversies persist.

  Wikipedia has also had a wide impact. To be a democratizing tool for the dissemination of knowledge and to provide equal access to information for everyone. Wikipedia's open collaboration model has also provided valuable lessons for collaborative projects in other fields, such as open source software development and social good projects.

  However, there are still controversies and shortcomings in Wikipedia: content accuracy, management methods, and founder Jimmy Wales' personal controversies, which means that Wikipedia needs to adapt and improve to meet various challenges.

  Compared with other knowledge platforms, anyone can edit Wikipedia, which makes the source of knowledge more extensive, but it is also a double-edged sword, and the accuracy of the information will be reduced. But its innovative open collaboration model has had a profound impact on society. It breaks the traditional monopoly of knowledge, so that ordinary users can participate in it and become the creators and disseminators of knowledge. This collaborative model exemplifies the power of collective intelligence, proving that even communities without monetary incentives can create tremendous value.


Discussion

When you need to learn something new, do you choose Wikipedia first? Even though it may have inaccurate information because of the open collaboration model?

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
