Week2-Understanding Wikipedia, And Delving into and Contemplating it-CHEN SIYU(진사우)

Summary

In this class, we learned about Wikipedia, and we hope that everyone can freely access information and knowledge. We discussed this issue and found that Wikipedia still needs gradual improvement, as the educational attainment and cultural differences among people in each country are not universally accessible. To browse and acquire knowledge.
And, by teaching explanations of the development of historical figures on Wikipedia, we gained a deeper understanding of the reasons behind its creation and its impact on a wide range of users. Let everyone have equal access to the information on Wikipedia. Furthermore, the open collaboration model also allows users to freely leverage their abilities and gain more knowledge about Wikipedia. Form a platform for mutual exchange.

Interesting Point


What makes Wikipedia particularly interesting is the vast diversity of its article designs, whether it's tailored to the local characteristics of each country, each industry, military, political, and social environmental issues. Geographical issues and various economic development challenges have relevant information and reports that can teach us a lot.


Discussion


I have learned that one of Wikipedia's core rules is the requirement for neutral content to be published, but it still faces many challenges. Some articles frequently touch on this issue when it comes to national politics, military affairs, history, and so on. This could lead to different readers forming varying opinions when they read the article's report. How can we find a balance among them?

Week 1. My Recent Wikipedia Edits - Jeong seolah (정설아)

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
