Week3 -- My Wikipedia Edits -- LIU ZIYE

 1) Summary and link to your edit:

In the second week, I attempted to edit the Chinese Wikipedia article for the game Love and Deep Space (恋与深空). I made three separate edits, but unfortunately, all of them were reverted by administrators.

In the first edit, I changed several traditional Chinese characters to simplified ones, thinking I was improving consistency. However, the edit was reverted with a note that I was possibly violating the “cross-strait terminology” guideline. In the second edit, I added the official website of the game to the article, believing it would be helpful for readers. This was also reverted, with the reason that the link appeared to be promotional content. The third edit was a small formatting adjustment, but because it was grouped with the previous change, it was also rolled back.

2) New insights or interesting experiences:
Although my edits were not accepted, the experience was very educational. I used to think that if the information was accurate, it could be freely added. Now I understand that Wikipedia emphasizes not just accuracy but also neutrality, formatting, and compliance with detailed guidelines. I learned that changing traditional to simplified Chinese manually is discouraged, and even official links can be problematic if they seem promotional.

3) Questions or issues for further discussion:
One question I have is: Are there any exceptions where official links can be included in Wikipedia articles? And under what circumstances is it acceptable to adjust between traditional and simplified characters? I hope to better understand these rules through further reading and discussion. Moving forward, I plan to study the editing guidelines more carefully and seek advice from experienced editors to improve both my contributions and my judgment as an editor.

Week 1. My Recent Wikipedia Edits - Jeong seolah (정설아)

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
