Assignment 1: When you search for information, do you prefer to use AI or Wikipedia? Why? - BAE JINSU(배진수)
Recently, I use AI more often than Wikipedia when I search for information. AI can list the main points I want to know in more detail and edit them in a way that is easy to read. These days, AI technology has improved, so it can even show the sources of the information it analyzed. Especially when I look for information written in English, I almost always depend on AI.
However, I always try to double-check. It is clear that AI still needs to improve a lot. I cannot trust AI completely, especially when it analyzes and writes documents. Sometimes, it does not include all the important points or skips explanations and evidence because of too much summarizing. I have seen this happen several times when I asked AI for specific information.
So, to make sure the information I get is reliable, I always check again using Wikipedia or professional books. I think Wikipedia is like a public resource because it collects the knowledge of many people. In this way, I believe it is a more trustworthy source.
In conclusion, for me, AI and Wikipedia have different roles in searching for information. AI is good at finding and summarizing information quickly. Maybe this is also because I am not very skilled at using Wikipedia. But from another point of view, AI is better in terms of convenience and accessibility (although this could be just because of my own skills). Also, before using AI or Wikipedia, I usually use Google first. Wikipedia is often one of the top results in Google search. If Wikipedia comes up at the top, I use it. If not, I use AI. Then I use Wikipedia again to check the source and reliability of the information. In the end, I do not prefer one over the other. I use both as tools for cross-checking information.
