week 7 : my recent wikipidia edits - ljhwa(이진화)
The Week 5 edit focused on content related to e-sports. While editing topics related to e-sports and the LCK, I realized that Korea holds a remarkably strong position in the field of e-sports. One of the relevant organizations in this context is the International Esports Federation (IeSF), a global organization headquartered in Korea. Naturally, this led me to become more interested in the activities and efforts of the IeSF in the e-sports domain.
Below is a summary of the changes I have contributed.
-Editing by Wikipiedia in English
1. Error Correction : The International Esports Federation (IeSF) was established on August 8, 2008, by nine esports[2]
2. Add reference : In November of the same year, the organization held its inaugural general meeting.[3]
3. Add reference : In 2012, IeSF introduced the first-ever esports tournament for women during the IeSF 2012 World Championship.[5]
4. Error Correction : In July 2016, Macau became the 56th member nation of the IESF.[12]
5. Add reference : The IeSF expanded further with the inclusion of new member federations, such as Colombia's Federación Colombiana de Deportes Electrónicos (FEDECOLDE), Kazakhstan's Qazaq Cybersport Federation (QCF), Turkey's Turkish Esports Federation (TESFED), and Ukraine's Federation of E-Sport of Ukraine (UESF), bringing the total member count to 60, spanning six continents.[15]
While traditional doping (e.g., steroids) may not directly enhance performance in e-sports, substances like stimulants (e.g., Adderall or Ritalin) can significantly affect focus, reaction time, and mental stamina—key factors in high-level competitive gaming. Therefore, the adoption of WADA standards by IeSF reflects an effort to ensure fairness, legitimacy, and alignment with global sports governance. It also helps to preempt potential abuse of cognitive-enhancing drugs.
