Week5---My recent Wikipedia edits---YANJINJIN(염금금)

1.Summary 

 Recently, I participated in the editing of Wikipedia, specifically the entry "Artificial Intelligence". This process gave me a deep understanding of the latest progress in artificial intelligence, and also discovered some interesting challenges in the editing process.

 First, I updated the content of some new technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, such as the application of deep learning and reinforcement learning. I added several latest research results and technical applications, such as breakthroughs in medical care, autonomous driving, and speech recognition. Through this editing, I not only learned the basic principles of these technologies, but also understood their practical applications in real life.

2.Interesting points

 During the editing process, several points impressed me. First, how to ensure the reliability of information sources is a key issue. Wikipedia requires that all information must have reliable citations, which made me spend a lot of time looking for authoritative academic papers and reliable news sources. In addition, I also encountered some challenges in language expression. How to describe complex technical concepts in concise and clear language to avoid misunderstandings is an area that I need to continuously improve.

3.Discussion 

 How can Wikipedia's content quickly adapt to the rapid development of the technology field? How to deal with the balance between the speed and accuracy of information updates?Especially in rapidly developing fields such as artificial intelligence, how can we avoid outdated information from affecting readers’ understanding of the latest developments?

    Regarding your question about "how to balance the speed and accuracy of information updates", I think there are several directions to consider: First, strengthen the community collaboration mechanism, such as encouraging more editors with professional backgrounds to participate in the maintenance of specific fields.

 1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword. I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.
