Week5- Wikipedia Edit-CHEN SIWEN 진사문

Summary

This week, I continued my Wikipedia editing project and felt more confident than last week. Through class activities and hands-on editing, I became more familiar with tools like Twinkle and started understanding the editing process better. I also learned the importance of being careful when making changes.

Interesting Points

I was surprised by how quickly the Wikipedia community notices even small edits. The collaborative support through talk pages and the Teahouse made me feel included, even as a beginner. I also noticed that some experienced users act like informal leaders—helping others, resolving conflicts, and guiding discussions—despite Wikipedia’s open and equal structure.

Discussion

Wikipedia promotes equality and collaboration, but informal leaders still emerge to guide and support the community.

Is true collaboration ever really leaderless?

Comments

  1. Even in environments that advocate for equality and cooperation, people often rely on influential individuals to coordinate and advance the process. So, even without clear leadership on the surface, the collaborative process can still subtly form some form of leadership structure.
