Week5:Edits to Wikipedia in the past week -- ZHANG XIAOTONG(장효동)

 Summary

Over the past week, I have edited the Wikipedia entry for World Forest Day, adding citations and references. I have also added background on the day and data from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on global forest cover change.

Interesting Points

1. Findings in the article content:

When editing the article World Forest Day, I found that since the United Nations General Assembly declared March 21 as World Forest Day in 2012, the United Nations has encouraged countries to hold forest and tree-related activities at the local, national and international levels every year on the "International Forest Day" to promote the close connection between forests and food. The theme of the 2025 International Forest Day is "Forests: A Valuable Source of Food", which will promote to the world the key role that forests play in food security, nutrition and livelihoods.

2. The fun of editing articles

When editing this article, I need to have a general grasp of the content of the article, then search for related content and websites, and finally add citations. This process not only improves my own knowledge reserves, but also provides reliable information for a wider range of readers. When looking for appropriate citations and performing operations, I also experienced the fun and challenges of the editing process.

Areas for discussion:

Regarding the reliability of data sources, if FAO data differs from reports by some environmental organizations, how should the citations be balanced?
