 1）Summary

Recently, I edited the economic section of the "Jieyang" entry on Wikipedia. The original entry only gave a summary of Jieyang's economy, lacking specific information. By consulting the government work report and statistical data, I systematically added Jieyang's five major economic pillar industries: traditional manufacturing, medicine and Chinese herbal medicine, petrochemical energy, commerce and e-commerce, and agriculture and food processing, making the content more comprehensive and objective.（link）

2）Interesting Points

-From a sentence to a complete section

The original content only briefly mentioned that "Jieyang is an important industrial city", but now it introduces the specific situation and data of each industry in detail.

-Discovering characteristic industries

During the survey, it was found that Jieyang's Chinese herbal medicine industry and jade processing are very distinctive, which are completely missing in the original entry.

-Quoting official data

The 2022 Jieyang Statistical Yearbook and the Municipal Government Work Report are used as reliable sources to ensure the accuracy of information.

-Balanced presentation

It not only introduces advantageous industries such as petrochemical energy, but also mentions traditional industries such as agriculture to avoid one-sidedness.

3）Discussion

-The significance of Wikipedia editing

By improving local entries, more people can understand the real development status of Jieyang.

-Subsequent improvement direction

Plan to add specific representative enterprises and economic contribution ratios of each industry.

-The value of local entries

Such entries have practical reference value for investors, researchers and tourists.

 1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
