1.Summary  

With the rise of different ways to access information, AI tools (like ChatGPT) and Wikipedia have become two of the most commonly used knowledge platforms. While people used to be skeptical about Wikipedia, learning how it actually works—how articles are written, edited, and sourced—has helped many recognize its value, especially for academic content. At the same time, the growth of AI has completely changed how we search for information. It offers quick, personalized, and interactive responses.

Nowadays, most people don’t simply choose between AI or Wikipedia—they use both depending on the situation. AI helps when you need a quick understanding or direction, while Wikipedia is better for deep dives and fact-checking.

2. Interesting Points  

AI’s Personalization Advantage: AI can adjust its responses based on your questions, offering tailored answers. It defines terms, gives examples, explains background information, and is especially helpful when you're unfamiliar with a topic.

Wikipedia’s Transparency and Structure: Wikipedia offers detailed background information and clear citations, making it a reliable tool for academic writing and source verification.

Complementary Strengths: AI helps with speed and broad overviews, while Wikipedia provides verifiable sources and a structured knowledge base. In practice, they work best when used together.

3. Discussion  

AI and Wikipedia aren't either-or tools—they each have unique strengths. AI offers instant, flexible answers, ideal for quick tasks or brainstorming. Wikipedia, on the other hand, shines when accuracy and depth are needed, like for research or writing papers.

This raises an important question: in today’s information-heavy world, is the real skill not choosing which tool to use, but knowing when to use each one? In the future, could we see a platform that truly blends AI’s speed with Wikipedia’s reliability, giving us the best of both worlds?

    Yes, this is precisely the direction in which information literacy will develop in the future. As AI tools become increasingly powerful, quickly obtaining answers is no longer a problem. The real challenge has become whether we can determine when to rely on the immediacy of AI and when to rely on verified information sources like Wikipedia.

    The platform of the future is likely to evolve towards a "wisdom hub": not only can it understand and generate information as quickly as AI, but it can also cite reliable sources like Wikipedia, provide transparent reasoning processes, and allow human involvement in supervision and correction. This fusion is not just a combination of technology; it is a new philosophy of information processing: fast without distortion, open, and verifiable.

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
