Week8 - Questions about AI and Wikipedia - LIU ZIYE
Assignment 1: When you search for information, do you prefer to use AI or Wikipedia? Why?
When it comes to academic questions, I prefer to use Wikipedia. It often provides accurate and well-sourced information that helps me quickly understand a topic. Wikipedia entries usually include citations from reliable books, journals, and official websites, which makes it easier for me to find trustworthy references. In contrast, AI sometimes creates false information or generates fake data, especially when it tries to give citations. For academic work, this can be very risky.
However, when it comes to daily life questions or entertainment-related topics, I prefer using AI. Modern AI tools can now search the web, and I can just describe what I want in simple words. As long as the topic is not private or illegal, AI gives fast and helpful responses. AI is also more flexible than Wikipedia when it comes to keywords. On Wikipedia, if I don’t type the correct keyword, I may not find what I’m looking for. But AI can understand my meaning even if my language is unclear, and it still gives me the right answer.
In short, I think both Wikipedia and AI have their strengths. For academic accuracy and reliability, I use Wikipedia. For convenience and general topics, AI is more efficient and user-friendly.
