Week 10---Editing Wikipedia: My experience editing the entry for "electric vehicles" YANJINJIN(염금금)

 1.Summary

As someone who is very interested in electric vehicles (EVs), I decided to try editing the "electric vehicle" entry on Wikipedia. This process not only allowed me to learn more, but also made me think about some of the challenges behind Wikipedia editing.

Before the revision, I noticed that the battery technology section in the "electric vehicle" entry was a bit outdated and failed to mention the latest solid-state battery technology. I updated the battery technology section by consulting the latest research papers and news reports, adding information about the potential of solid-state batteries in improving the performance of electric vehicles.

2.Interesting Point

While editing, I realized that Wikipedia has very strict requirements for citing information. In order to ensure that the updated content can be accepted, I have to carefully find reliable sources and make sure that each piece of information is properly cited. This made me realize that editing Wikipedia is not only a process of knowledge sharing, but also a responsibility.

3.Discussion

How does Wikipedia handle controversial technology topics? If different experts have different views on the future development of battery technology, can Wikipedia fairly present the opinions of all parties? How can this "crowdsourcing" editing model balance openness and accuracy to ensure that the content is not misleading?

Week 1. My Recent Wikipedia Edits - Jeong seolah (정설아)

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
