Week 12 discuss the past readings- Kwon Hyunji(권현지)
1. Summary
In this class, we learned about how
articles are generated and developed in Wikipedia. Articles usually progress
from short articles to richer articles by adding information that people know.
Wikipedia aims to continuously provide useful information to people and seeks
to provide them with reliable information. Therefore, it is important for many
people to actively share and edit their knowledge. And it is sometimes selected
as a good article based on certain criteria. These standards require sources to
be reliable and to be able to deliver messages in a neutral manner. And it
needs to match Wikipedia's editorial style and be well organized.
2. Interesting Point
It was interesting that various people made efforts to select Wikipedia's documents as "good writing" together. I thought that it was a place of positive discussion in society that we have time to objectively judge whether the writing was written based on a reliable source, whether the style of editing was consistent and followed the rules, and whether the content was delivered neutral, regardless of physical distance. In addition, I could see a positive aspect in that thequality was improved by participation of several people, not by one person from the beginning to the end.
3. Discussion
How can we compensate for the problems of the open community in order for Wikipedia to continue to grow?
Is information regulation necessary for proper knowledge transfer?
