Week10--Class discussion questions--ZHANG XIAOTONG(장효동)
In class this week, we looked at some examples of Wikimedia community activities and discussed questions such as "Which event sounds interesting? / Would you like to attend a Wikimedia face to face meetup? /Are there any meetups in your country/region?"
In today's digital age, knowledge sharing is no longer limited by geographical and language boundaries. As one of the world's largest free knowledge platforms, Wikimedia is not only committed to the construction of Wikipedia content, but also brings together volunteers from all over the world to participate in knowledge creation through various online and offline activities.
By looking at Wikimedia community events, I am interested in the "Wikimania 2025" event to be held in Nairobi, Kenya from August 6 to 9, 2025. This is one of the largest gatherings of Wikimedia enthusiasts around the world. It is a grand event that combines knowledge exchange, community building and technological innovation. Editors from many countries will gather together to discuss the prospects for the development of open knowledge. In this event, I think I can learn from the editing experience of different regions and promote the cross-cultural dissemination of knowledge, which sounds very attractive to me.
There are currently no registered gatherings in my area, but I am willing to attend Wikimedia's offline gatherings once, which can contact and meet more editors from different countries and understand the ideas of editors around the world.
