week10-Controversial content in the article- JIANGJIASHAN(강가삼)
summary:
Wikipedia regulates controversial content through a series of strict editorial policies, including: 1. NPOV: Entries must present the views of all parties fairly and must not favor any single stance. 2. Verifiability: All content must cite reliable sources (such as academic papers or authoritative media reports). 3. Biographies of Living Persons, BLP: Special caution is needed in describing characters to avoid defamatory or unverified information.
Controversial entries may be restricted in editing permissions, allowing only registered users or administrators to modify them. Administrators can remove content that includes defamation, privacy infringement, and other violations. In extreme cases, the arbitration committee can intervene and issue binding awards.Wikipedia emphasizes "consensus decision-making," and contentious entries typically need to be resolved through discussion pages (Talk Pages).
Interesting point:
Differences and the Controversy over "Western Centrism"
Global editorial distribution is uneven, with about 80% of editors coming from European and American countries, often marginalizing non-Western perspectives such as Chinese history and African politics.
Discussion Question:
Possible improvement directions besides introducing AI-assisted detection methods?
Develop a system where bilingual or multilingual editors can voluntarily review translations across different language versions. This peer-based quality control encourages accountability and cultural sensitivity.
ReplyDeleteWhen editing or reviewing documents related to certain sensitive international issues, it may be possible to adapt them so they can be used as part of the curriculum in schools of the countries involved. If this is carried out as a collaborative effort, I believe it could not only provide educational benefits such as fostering international cooperation among students, but also result in the most neutral version of the document.
