Week11:Classroom Activity Discussion Questions--ZHANG XIAOTONG(장효동)

Summary:
In this week’s class, we participated in two Wikimedia-related tasks: first, reviewing the Wikimedia career development page and reflecting on how it relates to our future careers; and second, learning about the WikiConference that will be held in Seoul in 2025, considering its benefits and the value of participating. These two tasks gave me new insights into the concept of "open knowledge" and the role of international exchange in the digital age.

Interesting Points:
The page in Activity 2 introduced various Wikimedia projects and their global impact. I learned that beyond Wikipedia, Wikimedia also includes platforms like Wikidata, Wikivoyage, and Wikibooks. These open knowledge projects help users understand how such platforms operate, and they are highly relevant to careers in education, media, technology, and international organizations. For students interested in fields like media, education, or digital content, these platforms serve not only as sources of knowledge but also as practical tools for learning how digital resources promote cultural exchange.

In Activity 3, I found that the 2025 WikiConference in Seoul would be a great opportunity for exchange. It is not just a technical conference, but a space that encourages global knowledge sharing, cross-cultural dialogue, and civic engagement. At this conference, anyone can share ideas, join discussions, or even initiate new projects. I think this offers young people an excellent opportunity to express themselves and develop an international perspective.

Reflection:
Through these two activities, I realized that "open knowledge" is no longer just a concept, but a practical path closely connected to our studies and future careers. As a student, I am not only a receiver of knowledge—I also have the opportunity to become a contributor.

If given the chance, I would definitely like to attend the WikiConference in Seoul in 2025. Not only could it help me improve my professional skills, but I also want to experience this atmosphere of cross-cultural and multilingual collaboration, and see how people around the world work together to build a free and open knowledge system.
