WEEK9--Reading Materials

After reading Chapter 3,What touched me the most was the deep meaning of "neutral point of view". It is not to erase points of view, but to build a knowledge container that can accommodate all reliable points of view. Just like the "evolution" entry given as an example in the book, editors do not need to change their beliefs, but need to leave room for opposing points of view.

"Presumption of good faith" sounds good, but it is challenging in practice. The administrator's response to controversial users in the book made me see that good faith is not unlimited tolerance, but calmly pointing out problems and giving opportunities for improvement. When user Salva31 apologized, it proved that this persistence was effective.

In the serious compilation of encyclopedias, the wisdom of Wikipedians to dispel hostility with jokes may be the reason why the community can withstand high pressure.

Moreover, the "version backtracking" function makes error correction zero cost, which essentially reduces the risk of collaboration with technology. This made me realize that the culture of good faith not only relies on people's hearts, but also needs institutional design to support it.
