Week-11 LIUJUNYU

 Summary:

Wikimedia Commons is a platform maintained by volunteers that specializes in storing freely licensed and public domain multimedia files. Similar to Wikipedia, Commons is also a project supported by the Wikimedia Foundation. Anyone can upload, use and edit resources as long as they abide by the relevant copyright rules.


During the reading process, the point that touched me the most was that freedom does not mean no rules. The "free license" emphasized by Wikimedia Commons is actually based on a clear legal basis. Detailed sources and usage instructions are required behind every picture and every audio file. This made me think that copyright awareness has become particularly important in the digital age. The platform hopes to encourage people to share, but it must also strictly protect the rights of the original creators and avoid infringing on the rights of others. This tension between freedom and norms is the root of Commons' long-term operation.


What I find interesting is that Wikimedia Commons is a model of the concept of "knowledge sharing". It is not only a resource library, but also a product of global collaboration, a platform for copyright education, and an open space that encourages creation and re-creation. It is a valuable asset for content creators, teachers, students and even ordinary Internet users.


In today's world where digital content is rampant and copyright issues are increasingly sensitive, Commons provides a clear, legal and safe path, allowing us to see the possibility of sharing and reminding us of the importance of respect and cooperation.

Week 1. My Recent Wikipedia Edits - Jeong seolah (정설아)

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
