 1.Summary

When comparing the "News" sections of the English, Korean, and Chinese Wikipedia homepages, we can see that they each have different presentation styles and emphases.

First, the "News" section of the English Wikipedia usually includes major events around the world, with a wide range of content, covering politics, technology, culture, and other fields. For example, recent news reports may be about policy changes on global climate change or international scientific and technological progress. This global perspective is in line with the international orientation of the English Wikipedia, which focuses on the juxtaposition of news from various countries.

In contrast, the "News" section of the Korean Wikipedia focuses more on domestic news, especially political, economic, and cultural events related to South Korea. The news content will be closer to Korean families and daily life, and the events involved may be less about global news and more focused on domestic and regional issues.

Chinese Wikipedia is somewhere in between, with news content covering major domestic and international events, but usually focusing more on China's perspective and changes in related policies. Chinese pages may reflect more national-level news, especially government activities or socioeconomic dynamics.

2.Interesting Points

Although all three Wikipedias focus on major news events, their selection and presentation reflect the needs of their respective cultures and audiences. The international perspective of the English Wikipedia, the localization focus of the Korean Wikipedia, and the national focus of the Chinese Wikipedia are all adjusted according to the cultural background of their respective language circles and the interests of their readers.

3.Discussion

In a multicultural context, how can Wikipedia, as a global knowledge platform, balance the needs of globalization and localization? Can we expect more cross-cultural content integration to better serve the diverse needs of global readers?

I made several edits to the Wikipedia page for 'Daegu'.  Daegu, located in the southeastern part of South Korea, is the third-largest urban area in the country, following Seoul and Busan.  1. Summarize in my own words of materials. The book is primarily about the openness of Wikipedia. Openness means that anyone can participate in the creation and editing of articles without any qualifications. Openness can be a double-edged sword. While it means that you can edit without having expert knowledge of a topic, it also means that you can participate even if you have expert knowledge. For experts, articles written by non-experts can come across as inaccurate knowledge, which can anger experts. This anger can also be a catalyst for Wikipedia to continue to improve. However, articles edited only by non-experts can cause misunderstandings and convey incorrect information, so openness can be considered a double-edged sword.
