Week 16 — Deepening My Wikipedia Editing Experience
Name:CHENYUNLIN

This semester’s work on Wikipedia editing has brought me more accumulation and reflection. Compared to the initial basic corrections, I am now more familiar with editing procedures and community guidelines, and I am more confident in taking on more challenging tasks such as expanding article content, adding diverse references, and participating in discussions on controversial pages.

Once, I supplemented a sociology article with additional content, spending a lot of time searching for the latest research and supporting points with reliable academic sources. During this process, I deeply realized that choosing reliable sources is not just about citing them, but is key to ensuring the quality of an article. Feedback from community administrators reminded me to further improve citation formatting and avoid biased language, which made me place more importance on editorial rigor.

Additionally, I noticed that Wikipedia editing is not only a technical operation but also a community collaboration. After multiple exchanges on talk pages, I understood the importance of respecting different opinions and reaching consensus through rational discussion. The editing experience has made me realize that knowledge is not fixed, but is gradually perfected through continuous revision and supplementation.

On the technical side, I have learned to use more advanced templates and tried some automated tools to assist editing, such as format checking and multilingual link management. These skills have improved my editing efficiency and allowed me to feel the strong technical support behind Wikipedia.

Summing up this experience, I found that not only have I improved my writing and information evaluation skills, but I have also deepened my understanding of “knowledge sharing” and the “spirit of collaboration.” As an experienced editor, I look forward to continuing to contribute high-quality content, especially in the fields of social sciences and culture, helping Wikipedia become a more reliable and richer knowledge platform.
