Week12.Thoughts after reading Article development-LIUJUNYU
When we habitually search for a concept, person or historical event on Wikipedia, it is easy to overlook the fact that these contents are not so complete and detailed at the beginning. So, how does a Wikipedia entry "grow"? Wikipedia divides the development of articles into several stages, each of which represents a different degree of quality, structure and information richness of the entry. The leap in each stage is inseparable from the efforts of many editors. The knowledge of Wikipedia is not written by a certain person, but a collective process of continuous improvement, correction and collaboration.
During the reading process, I deeply realized that Wikipedia is not a place to "write casually". Although everyone can edit, this does not mean "no threshold". On the contrary, the growth of each entry must follow strict content policies, such as NPOV, Verifiability, No Original Research, etc. These rules are like firewalls for knowledge quality. I realized that this standard is the key to the success of Wikipedia. It not only makes everyone feel involved, but also ensures that the content will not be abused or distorted.
What I find interesting is that the entries are not completed by one person alone, but grow together in a community of volunteers. Wikipedia is not only a place for us to look up information, but also a knowledge platform that we can participate in and build together.
