Week14 - KIM JUHEE (김주희) : Reading
Summary
This article is titled “Did You Know?” (DYK) on Wikipedia. At first, I didn’t quite understand what the article was about from the title, but after reading it, I realized that it’s related to the main page of Wikipedia, also known as the front page. This page is part of a project, and it is referred to as DYK, which stands for “Did You Know?”. The article explains the five main goals of DYK, what things are not part of DYK, the rules and the five criteria for eligibility, as well as the process. It even goes into detail about the participants involved in this project, giving an overview of who is part of it.-
Interesting Points
I found it particularly interesting that the article introduces the participants in the DYK project. What stood out to me was the fact that there is a special category for highly active participants, almost like a Hall of Fame. I think this gives a sense of accomplishment, similar to what I saw in the featured articles or good articles. It was also fascinating to see how people were categorized into different groups, not just the highly active contributors, but also various other roles. This made me curious about the criteria used to determine these categories and how they are applied. -
Questions and Discussion
Although I assume there must be other criteria, does simply editing a lot of articles make someone an active participant? What are the different categories of participants, like active contributors, helpful contributors, and others, and how are they divided? How do we evaluate the edits of these participants? Are there any specific guidelines or systems used to assess their contributions and determine how important they are in the project?
