WEEK16——Wikipedia Edit ZHUANG MINNA

1.Overview

This week, I completed two Wikipedia translation tasks.Interesting phenomena found:

The narrative turn of Korean historiography shows obvious stage characteristics: from the dependence on China-centered view in the Goryeo period, to the awakening of local consciousness in the late Joseon Dynasty, and then to the construction of national historiography in the colonial period. Particularly noteworthy is the transition from "Samguk Sagi" to "Samguk Yusa", in which the change in the narrative weight of the Dangun myth is quite symbolic.

The newspaper practice of "Southeast Daily" shows the survival strategy of the media under a special political environment. Its declared editorial policy of "party stance, liberal color" and the cross-regional publishing network established during the War of Resistance Against Japan constitute a unique media phenomenon.

These phenomena reveal the symbiotic relationship between knowledge production and power structure. The evolution trajectory of Korean historiography shows that historical narratives often serve the construction needs of community identity, especially in periods of intensified external pressure, historical writing will show stronger identity politics characteristics. The case of "Southeast Daily" proves that under the authoritarian system, the media may develop a dual discourse system: the surface discourse decoration and the deep discourse essence form a delicate balance.

Thoughts

Philosophical thinking on historical authenticity: When historical research inevitably carries national emotions and political demands, how should we understand the possible boundaries of "objective history"?

The dilemma of media ethics: Under the dual pressure of power and market, how can media practitioners find a balance between professional ideals and realistic constraints? Does the "public-private partnership" model of "Southeast Daily" provide a possible middle path?

The social role of intellectuals: From Korean historians to newspapermen in the Republic of China, the choices made by these intellectual elites at major historical turning points have prompted us to re-examine the way and limits of intellectuals' social responsibilities.
