Week11---My Wikipedia Edits —CUI ZAN
1) Summary
This week, I made two small edits to the historical section of a Wikipedia article, specifically adding sources to content about the Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasties. The text itself was mostly accurate, but it didn’t have any citations. Even though I didn’t change much of the content, I felt that adding reliable references was still important—especially for history-related topics where information without sources can easily be questioned.
2) Editing thoughts
I used the visual editor this time, which made the editing part pretty smooth, but I still had to find the sources myself. I spent a bit of time comparing different references and checking which one matched best with each sentence. It’s not about adding new information, but more about making the article more trustworthy. For readers, even just seeing proper citations makes the whole thing feel more reliable.
3) One thought
Lately I’ve been thinking that contributing to Wikipedia isn’t just about writing a lot of text. Sometimes, just adding a few solid references is also a way of taking the article seriously. Especially when it comes to history—where people often argue over facts—having sources already there can make things clearer and help avoid misunderstandings.
